I got some good shots and swatches of my new Kleancolor Girls Talk palette in Blushing (02). The smaller shadows are pretty deep set into the plastic, so it was hard to get my finger in there for a swatch. I’m hoping a brush will be easier when I am applying them. The larger shadows have a lot more pigment than their shimmery counter parts.
These do not swatch on bare skin well. You could sort of see the larger shadows, but the smaller ones would not show at all without a primer. I used NYX Milk under the shadows.
The packaging is cute, but maybe a little juvenile. It is a cheaper plastic, so it is very easy to crack. Mine came with a crack in the right side of the lid.
These shadows just catch your eye. I love the swirl stamping in the larger shadows.
These are the swatches for all the small pan shadows going from left to right, top to bottom on the palette, and bottom to top on my arm. A few shadows are much more pigmented than others. A few are a little lackluster.
These are the swatches for the big shadow pans, and you can see this is the palette’s strength. The pigmentation is awesome. The red is the softest and most intense as far as pigmentation. I did try the white on NYX Milk to see if it would make it whiter. It didn’t. Not sure if I am too impressed with the white overall. The other colors are fantastic. I can’t wait to do a look with these!
I had to get a few things at Sephora, and came home with this!
Urban Decay Optical Blurring Brush, Sugar Lip Treatment, Deborah Lippmann nail lacquer in Stronger, Make Up For Ever Full Cover concealer in 1, and a 500 point Urban Decay set perk
This brush is so soft!! I used it to buff on my liquid foundation this morning. It gives such a nice finish. I am much happier with this than my flat foundation brush or stippling brush.
It bugs me how expensive this lip balm is considering how I go through balms, but it is the best one I have ever tried.
This is much more purple in person, but I couldn’t get the color to capture right. I’m going to try to take a picture again when I use it.
You only have to use a tiny bit of this concealer! It covers really, really well!
The Sephora stores don’t carry the smaller size of the All Nighter setting spray like I wanted to try. One of the SAs showed me this 500 point perk set that had a small deluxe sample of it. It also comes with their B6 vitamin infused prep spray. I will more than likely be giving this to my mom, because it has willow tree bark extract in it, which I am highly allergic to. It also comes with a tube of Anti-Aging Primer Potion, and a deluxe sample of their eye shadow in Mushroom.
I am IN LOVE with this color! It’s the perfect companion to my daily work makeup, so as soon as I run out, I will be purchasing a full-size!
Stila.com 80% off sale haul - Countless Color Pigments
Stila recently had an 80% off sale on their site. They had their Countless Color Pigments down to $4 a piece! I got four different colors.
From left to right: Center Stage, Acoustic, Melody, and Light Show. On the bottom are samples of two of their eye shadow palettes in “in the moment” and “in the garden”, and their sheer color tinted moisturizer.
Center Stage and Acoustic
Melody and Light Show
"in the moment" and "in the garden" palette samples

All four Countless Color Pigments swatched individually as best I could since they are mixed in some parts: Center Stage, Acoustic, Melody, and Light Show
I found this questionnaire online. It seemed like fun.
What skin type do you have? Dry/Sensitive
How many times do you wash your face daily? Three
What is your current facial wash? I have four currently. I use Julep’s Bare Face Cleansing Oil to remove my makeup at night. I use LUSH’s Aqua Marina to cleanse in the morning. I am actually having some sensitivity issues at the moment, so I am using Aqua Marina at night also until it clears up. I also have LUSH’s Let the Good Times Roll and Angel’s on Bare Skin. I LOVE the smell and texture of Let the Good Times Roll, but I think it might be a little too scrubby to use daily in comparison to AoBS, which I think is part of my current skin sensitivity issues.
Do you exfoliate? Yes, but I try to keep this minimal for my skin’s sensitivity. I let my Oatifix face mask, and Angel’s on Bare Skin/Let the Good Times Roll do the job.
What brand do you use? Several. At the moment, I use Julep, LUSH, Fresh, and Murad.
What moisturizer do you use? In the mornings, I sometimes use LUSH’s Full of Grace serum bar, and at night I use Fresh’s Seaberry moisturizing oil.
Do you have freckles? No
Do you use eye cream? Not at the moment. I probably should be, but I have never had an eye cream wow me.
Do you or did you have acne prone skin? Maybe some as a teenager since I had normal skin back then. I only am prone to breakout now from irritation.
Did you ever use Pro-activ? Never. I am highly allergic to salicylic acid and willow tree bark extract.
What foundation do you use? Currently, I like Makeup Forever’s HD liquid and compact powder foundation. I use 110 mostly year round, but sometimes in summer, I can do 107.
How about concealer? Make Up Forever’s HD currently, but I am about to run out. I will be purchasing their full coverage concealer soon.
Do you know your undertone color? Yes. I have lots of pink. More so in the summer, milder in the winter.
What do you think of fake eyelashes? Love them. I rarely wear them, because I am lazy. I also don’t have that much time in the mornings before work, but I wish my lashes looked like that every day!
Did you know that you are suppose to change your mascara every 3 months? Yes. I have to admit that sometimes I am bad, but I try to be good!
What brand of mascara do you use? Benefit They’re Real
What makeup tools do you use in make up application? Brushes. All brushes. Although I did recently order one of those gourd-shaped sponges to try soon.
Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes? Of course. Eye makeup wouldn’t be the same without it. While I do like Urban Decay’s, I currently use Too Faced Eye Shadow Insurance. I don’t have oily eyelids, so either works great for me.
What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)? Something along the lines of MAC’s Stars & Rockets or solid red!
Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner? Cream/gel liner on my top lid, then pencil everywhere else.
How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil? Very seldom.
What do you think of pigment eyeshadows? Love them! The only downside is the fallout if you aren’t very careful, and how messy they can be on everything else.
Do you use mineral makeup? I have before. I loved using mineral loose foundation, but the mess just wasn’t worth it to me in the end. Everything would end up being covered in powder, and I would be sneezing even if I was breathing out while messing with it.
What is your favorite lipstick? Ooo… That’s hard. I would say, as of right now, Makeup Forever Artist Intense Rouge and NYX Round Creamy.
How about lipgloss? I’m not a fan of lipgloss. I have around 10 limited edition MAC lipglosses that I am contemplating giving to my mother. The only lipgloss I still kind of like is MAC Cremesheen, but since they now test on animals, I won’t be repurchasing. Not a huge loss to me.
What is your favorite blush to use? Tarte Amazonian Clay blush. It’s buildable and INCREDIBLE! Only the matte colors, though. I won’t wear shimmery or glittery blush.
Make a Choice
Do you buy your makeup on eBay Nope. I am maybe one of the few that doesn’t. I’m not too into buying it on Amazon, even though I am an Amazon junkie. Not sure why, but I just prefer to purchase my items off of the company itself, or at places like Sephora, Ulta, or Beauty Brands. It just makes me feel reassured.
Do you like drugstore makeup? Some, sure. I have been pretty impressed with NYX. There are many drugstore brands that I will not try, because of animal testing policies, so that really limits the ones I use. E.L.F. has some nice things, but they also have many misses. Physician’s Formula makes nice face makeups. Wet N Wild can really hit the mark on some of their products. I really like their Fergie line. They WERE NOT like this when I was a teenager! 15 years ago, everything they made was so cheap and unusable, but now they are really hitting it out of the park. N.Y.C. is kind of along the same lines of E.L.F. where they have their hits and misses. Although I think E.L.F. has more hits in comparison.
Do you go to CCO’s? (cosmetic company outlets) Ha ha! I have before. I worked at an Estee Lauder one for 4 years, so you can say I have been to them many, many, many times.
Did you ever consider taking make-up classes? No. I have spoken to many cosmetology students who say that they only spend about 10 hours of their school time on makeup, and the methods they were teaching are archaic. If I were to ever take classes, they would be university or an accredited makeup artistry certification classes. Very few cosmetology schools will show you something you can’t learn from YouTube, unfortunately.
Are you clumsy in putting on makeup? Not at all. I have been doing it for far too long! If you do something every day for almost 2 decades, then I think you would pretty much have the hang of it!
Name a makeup crime that you hate? Mismatched foundation. I’m not saying you accidentally got a color that just wasn’t quite right. I mean the people who purposefully purchase foundation 3-4 shades darker than their skin attempting to look more tan. You know those girls. Pumpkin faces. I actually had a woman tell some of my coworkers at the makeup store “Wearing foundation that matches your skin? That’s the dumbest thing I have ever heard!” No joke.
Do you like colorful shades of makeup? Yes! I LOVE it! I am of the philosophy that anyone can wear any color eye makeup. You just have to know how to use it. I love anything rainbow. As in, I buy items that are rainbow colored, or if something has rainbow polka dots. My umbrella is rainbow colored. I hate the color brown.
Which celebrity always has great make up? Oprah, or at least, that’s the only celebrity I kinda, sorta pay attention to. I honestly think most celebrity makeup is pretty boring, and I’m not into the whole celebrity obsession. My favorite actors and performers are already dead.
If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use? Having done this before, whatever lip product I have. I would just carry my lipstick for the day if it was moisturizing enough. My lips are so dry.
Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on? I hate it, but I have. Sometimes, you don’t have a choice. The world doesn’t always want to wait on you.
Do you think you look good even without any makeup on? Since I am currently having skin irritation issues, I would say no. Sometimes I can look ok, but I always feel like I look terribly washed out. I have non-existent eyebrows, and my lips are pale.
In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line? This is probably the one question that I don’t think is quite answerable. All companies are going to have their strengths and weaknesses, and also, what part of “best” are we talking about? Philosophy, impact, involvement, values, product? There are also companies that just make a specific type of item. This is such a broad question that can have a spectrum of answers, so I will try to narrow down. One of my top brands at the moment is LUSH. I do not use their makeup products. I only use their skin/body care and bath items. I love their passion against animal testing, and their compassion for the environment and local communities. I like that they have decided to take a stance on many subjects rather than staying neutral like most do. After that, it gets harder, because it basically comes down to what products do I like from what companies? I guess it would be between Makeup Forever and Urban Decay, and even then it is hard to choose between Tarte and Urban Decay. I like the colors and formulas that MUFE and Urban Decay provide. I like the performance and ingredients that Tarte provides.
What do you think of Makeup? I think it’s shit. I hate it! I don’t understand why anyone would wear it, let alone purchase it! Ha. But seriously… This is a very broad, and silly question, but in an effort for completion, I will say that makeup is something that can be fun, uplifting, an art form, and many other things. Makeup is something different for everyone. Applying it has been practiced for thousands of years, and yet it seems there is always something new and fun to try. Makes one wonder what future innovations will pop up.
I finally got my NYX order in! They have a deal where you can get 25% off if you sign up for their emails. It came in the cutest black lace bag! They also gave me a powder puff as a free gift! I will probably use it for body, because I only use brushes on my face.
One of the first things I made sure to put in my bag was their Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. I have seen many makeup addicts use this as a base to make their colors pop, so I HAD to get it. Who doesn’t love intense color? ;)
I also got three eyeshadows, and one of their pigments. I don’t have a picture of the pigment swatched, because I could not get a proper picture in the light I had. I will try again soon! I bought two of their single eyeshadows in Cherry and Hot Orange. I saw they had these new singles called “Primal Colors”. I got the Hot Red, because, come on, you can never have enough red eyeshadow. I did receive these in Hot Orange, Hot Pink, and Hot Yellow, but I didn’t swatch these, because they are my mom’s. They looked nice, though.
I was eager to try their lip products as I have heard great things. I got one of their Round Lipsticks in Louisiana, because I keep hearing rave reviews. I also got a raved about Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo.
I can’t wait to try some looks with these products. I do have a Stila order that I am waiting to be shipped. I ordered it a week ago!! So that haul will be coming up HOPEFULLY soon!
Best Uses: All Skin Types, Combination Skin, Sensitive Skin, Daily Use, Dry Skin
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
I went into my local Lush store being very skeptical. My skin hates everything. The most gentle cleansers dry me out, and anything for dry skin is far too heavy. I am highly allergic to salicylic acid and even natural acne treatments, so if anything breaks me out, I can’t use any product to fix it. I have never found any exfoliating product that didn’t irritate, dry out, and break out my skin. So, naturally, when the SA suggested a cleanser for all skin types that exfoliates, I was very doubtful it would work.
I decided to try it anyway since the way you use it was intriguing. I went home to try it and was BLOWN AWAY! My skin loved it! I couldn’t stop stroking my cheek all night. My face wasn’t tender from the exfoliation, and it didn’t dry my skin out. Now I can’t wait to wash my face, and I huff the container every time I go into the bathroom. It smells so amazing!! I have been using this for 2 weeks now, and not a single white head has popped up!
It may seem expensive, but I only use a nickel-sized amount at a time. I bought $7.50 worth of it, and it will no doubt last me at least 3 weeks of nightly washing if not more.
The other fabulous thing about this cleanser is that it does not contain parabens. I am replacing all my personal care products that have parabens since I am sensitive to hormones. This stuff is a welcome addition!
